Partnership Announcement: ScienceOS <> Access 2 Perspectives.

We are excited to announce a strategic partnership with ScienceOS, an AI-powered research platform committed to transparent and researcher-controlled workflows. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in our mission to promote more equitable, transparent, and context-aware research practices globally

Why This Partnership?

At Access 2 Perspectives, we have long advocated for research practices that are equitable, transparent, and responsive to diverse regional contexts. ScienceOS is a natural partner because of its fundamental approach to AI in research, one that prioritizes researcher autonomy rather than imposing rigid, standardized workflows.

During our recent webinar with ScienceOS CEO Henri Max Deda, several key features aligned strongly with our values:

Inclusive Access to Literature: The platform searches across 230 million papers, 800 million snippets, and 2.4 billion references, with weekly updates. Importantly, it prioritizes open-access sources and allows researchers to supplement this with their own curated materials.

Researcher Control and Flexibility: Unlike many AI research tools that impose predetermined workflows, ScienceOS allows researchers to curate and work with their own reference libraries. This is crucial for scholars working with region-specific literature, local knowledge systems, and sources that may not appear in mainstream global databases.

Transparency and Reproducibility: Every response generated by the platform includes inline citations that link directly to source papers, enabling verification and supporting the reproducible research practices we champion in our training programs.

Dr. Johanna Havemann, Director at Access 2 Perspectives, reflects,” This partnership with scienceOS strongly reflects our mission at Access 2 Perspectives: to enable more equitable, transparent, and context-aware research practices worldwide. In our view, scienceOS is not just a dedicated and values-committed AI tool in the research arena; it also provides an enabling infrastructure that respects researcher autonomy while offering powerful support for sense-making, learning, and communication through AI-powered, responsible literature search and discovery. We are particularly excited about what this means for our community, greater access to practical AI-supported workflows, grounded in Open Science values, and suited for the diverse regional and disciplinary research contexts we support with our work. We look forward to building new training formats, shared learning experiences, and long-term impact together”

The ScienceOS Platform

For those unfamiliar with ScienceOS, the platform operates as an integrated research workspace rather than a single-function tool. Researchers can query the system conversationally, and it searches its extensive database while ranking results by relevance, citations, date, and journal impact.

The platform combines several complementary functions:

  • An AI Science Chat for literature discovery and synthesis
  • Multi-PDF Chat capability supporting simultaneous analysis of up to eight documents
  • A Reference Manager accommodating up to 4,000 PDFs
  • Project spaces for complex, multi-step research tasks
  • Customizable AI Actions for recurring analytical needs

What distinguishes this approach is its modularity. Researchers can use individual components or combine them based on specific project needs. The platform also supports various output formats, including tables, diagrams, and code, making it versatile across different research methodologies.

Nancy Nyambura, our Project Manager, emphasizes a particularly valuable feature: “The ability to upload references of choice makes ScienceOS more flexible when working with region-specific or locally relevant sources. Through this partnership, our community will have an opportunity to experience these benefits themselves, enhancing their research and education workflows.”

The platform maintains GDPR compliance with EU-based hosting and explicitly does not use user data for AI training—critical considerations for researchers concerned about data sovereignty and privacy.

We will integrate scienceOS into our internal workflows, training programs, and community engagements.

Expanding Access Through Community Benefits

A core element of this partnership is accessibility. Our community will receive exclusive discount codes for ScienceOS, distributed through our official channels and programs. This removes financial barriers and enables researchers, educators, and trainers across our network to explore the platform’s capabilities.

These access provisions are particularly meaningful for early-career researchers, scholars from institutions with limited resources, and educators developing training programs in resource-constrained settings.

Henri Max Deda, CEO of ScienceOS, articulates the shared vision: Open Science is not just a guiding design principle for us, it is a vision for a world where knowledge and ideas flow freely, and collaboration knows no boundaries. When data and research are accessible, more people can contribute, bringing diverse perspectives that spark innovation and deepen understanding. By partnering with Access 2 Perspectives, we join forces with a team that shares our passion for inclusivity and transparency, and together we aim to create opportunities for researchers everywhere to participate fully and learn continuously.”

This partnership strengthens our ability to support researchers navigating increasingly complex research and publishing environments. By combining practical AI-powered tooling with our pedagogical expertise in Open Science training, we aim to create pathways for more researchers globally to participate in rigorous, transparent, and context-aware scholarship.

We look forward to building new training formats, facilitating shared learning experiences, and measuring the long-term impact of this collaboration on research practices within our community.
